How can I help you?
Amazon AWS Operations
In 2013 I started working with a very busy team at Webroot. Using Amazon AWS, the team was responsible for enabling real time lookup and determinations for clients around the globe. The introduction to AWS was an inspirational one and I liked the versatility of what I saw.
The AWS journey is long and can be daunting if you are just setting out. It is not just a collection of virtual computers, it's a full suite of development environments and interconnecting services which, when you get it right, can be truly powerful and absolutely scalable.
If you are thinking about moving your services into AWS, let me know what you are planning. I will be able to help you navigate and understand the differences between ELBs, ALBs, VPCs and R53.
I have been providing IT Support for the best part of 20 years, from big corporations down to ordinary people with an old computer. Since 1997 I have been helping people like you with their computer problems. From broken down desktops, problematic printers, lazy laptops and mardy mobile phones I have been on the front line.
Now, as a freelance IT Professional, I am available to anyone who needs help. You might not be a big corporation, you might not even be a company owner or business user, I can bring big corporate IT Support to you whatever your circumstances. If you have an IT problem, get in touch.
Scripting & Automation
Do you find that you are doing the same things over and over again? Is that quick, 5 minute task that you started doing several years ago might taking longer (and getting a particularly monotonous)? Is there something that you are absolutely certain can be done, but you have no idea how to get there? Do you need some help scripting and automating tasks on your computer?
It's one of those things that IT Admins are often looking for: Script X that allows us to simplify Task Y. It's the thing that separates good admins from overworked ones. A good, well written script will ensure that the task you need to complete is done the same way every time. It can massively reduce the amount of time taken to complete the task and can be the most efficient way of handing over duties with less training and better confidence that the job will still get done right.
Get in touch if you need someone to help you automate or script a series of tasks that is becoming mundane and repetitive. Get in touch if you already have a script but need someone to add to it, update it or even fix it. You can Log a Support Request or Hire me on People Per Hour or you can use social media to get in touch.
One of the best ways to get things done is to hire someone to get the job done for you. This is where Contractors come in.
Rightly or wrongly IT Contractors seem to get bad press, but a good IT Contractor will help you get your job done without fuss and without the HR Headaches that come with recruitment, onboarding, holiday pay, sick pay etc. You have a project, you get a contractor to work on that project, the contractor goes away and does something else. It can be that easy! The hard part comes when Contractors are confused with Staff.
If you are in need of someone to help fulfill a task or get your project complete, consider hiring a contractor. If you are considering hiring a contractor, consider what I might be able to help you with. You can Log a Support Request or Hire me on People Per Hour or you can use social media to get in touch.
If you have a server hosted somewhere, you may need a little help from time to time. I can help you better understand what your service provider is trying to tell you, allowing you to budget time and costs accordingly.
I have been working with Linux and Windows Servers for several years and have a good understanding of VPS providers. I can provide a bridge between you and the techies, perform the tasks that are needed and help you keep your services running. Get in touch if you wish to discuss your requirements and how I can help. You might benefit from a Service Contract, safe in the knowledge that you have someone ready and available when you need them.
Don't just take my word for it
